Lagos State is on track to lead Nigeria’s artificial intelligence (AI) revolution with the imminent release of the country’s first AI governance guidelines, according to the Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Olatunbosun Alake.
Speaking at the official launch of Dyna.Ai’s operations in Nigeria, Alake revealed that the Lagos State Government will, within weeks, issue comprehensive guidance on the responsible deployment and management of AI technologies. These will serve as a framework for stakeholders building next-generation digital solutions across the state.
“These are not rigid policies but guiding principles,” Alake noted. “They are meant to ensure we create technologies we’ll be proud to let our children use—tools that serve humanity rather than compromise it.”
Prioritizing Responsible Innovation
Alake warned against the risks of unchecked AI development, describing it as “reputationally radioactive” if not ethically anchored. He called for a collective approach to AI stewardship, underlining that innovation must be balanced with accountability, especially in emerging markets.
“True value lies in innovation that aligns with the public good. Lagos is positioning itself not just as a digital hub, but as a responsible one,” he said.
The planned guidelines mark a strategic step toward shaping Nigeria’s AI regulatory future at the sub-national level—setting a precedent for other states and aligning with global trends in AI governance.
Federal Government Aligns on Secure Digital Ecosystem
Delivering the keynote at the event, Tokoni Peter Igoin, Special Assistant to the President on ICT Development and Digital Innovation, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to building a secure, transparent, and inclusive digital ecosystem.
“Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria is adopting a pro-innovation stance, particularly in AI and fintech,” said Igoin. “We are focused on frameworks that promote creativity while safeguarding data protection, transparency, and cybersecurity.”
Nigeria Becomes Strategic Launchpad for Dyna.Ai
Dyna.Ai, a global AI solutions firm, officially commenced operations in Nigeria, citing the country’s digital momentum and scale as critical factors in its market entry.
“Africa is not just the future—it’s now,” said Tomas Skoumal, Chairman and Co-President of Dyna.Ai. “And Nigeria is the epicenter of that digital transformation.”
He introduced Dyna.Ai’s flagship Agentic AI suite, including its proprietary Agent Studio and vertical-specific language models, designed to accelerate intelligent automation across industries such as customer service, marketing, HR, and debt collections.
Skoumal emphasized Dyna.Ai’s long-term investment strategy, highlighting a commitment to building digital infrastructure, creating jobs, and nurturing local talent in Nigeria.
“We’re not just here to sell solutions; we’re here to build a sustainable innovation ecosystem that can scale across Africa.”
