CommBank’s venture scaling arm, x15Ventures, has made a strategic investment in Gable, a Seattle-based data management startup that emerged victorious in the latest Xccelerate24 programme. This initiative, designed to support fintech innovation, marked the first time international startups were eligible to participate.
Founded in 2023, Gable specializes in helping developers maintain data integrity and governance across organizations. Leveraging AI, the platform identifies the origins of data within an enterprise and tracks its movement across various services and databases. By monitoring data flows, Gable enhances regulatory compliance by flagging personally identifiable information (PII) and triggering alerts when data governance or quality standards are compromised.
Kelvin Lim, Chief Technology Officer at x15Ventures, emphasized the impact of Gable’s solution, stating: “We were impressed with how Gable’s approach shifts critical tasks—such as monitoring changes to vital data, detecting PII, and enforcing compliance policies—directly into the hands of engineers. This not only ensures code modifications do not introduce vulnerabilities but also allows testing, governance, and compliance teams to focus on higher-value activities.”
With a diverse portfolio of ventures generating data in different ways, x15Ventures sees Gable’s technology as a game-changer for efficiently tracking data flows. The partnership aims to explore innovative applications that enhance compliance and governance across CommBank’s operations.
Gable was selected from nearly 100 startups that applied for Xccelerate24, which focused on leveraging AI and data to redefine customer and employee experiences. As the program winner, Gable will commence a project with x15Ventures to detect code changes in isolated technology environments while evaluating broader applications within CommBank.
Chad Sanderson, CEO of Gable, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating: “Engaging with CommBank—a global leader in financial services innovation and AI—is a significant endorsement of our vision. We believe Gable is pioneering a transformative approach, and I’m eager to explore further opportunities in Australia with x15 and CommBank.”
Beyond Gable’s success, three other Xccelerate24 finalists—Cleric, Dragonfly Thinking, and Eidiex—are also in discussions with CommBank to explore potential collaborations, reflecting the program’s ongoing commitment to fostering fintech innovation and technological advancement.
