Visa is set to broaden QR code payment options across Asia Pacific by connecting with key local QR payment providers: Lakala in Mainland China, Touch ‘n Go Digital in Malaysia, FOMO Pay in Singapore, LINE Pay in Taiwan, and VNPay and Zalopay in Vietnam. Through this initiative, Visa’s QR program will allow these platforms’ merchant networks to accept Visa payments, enabling consumers to make secure, cross-border transactions using their preferred payment apps.

The new program empowers consumers to scan and pay at participating QR merchants both domestically and internationally. “These partnerships represent a significant leap forward for the payments ecosystem in Asia Pacific,” said T.R. Ramachandran, Senior Vice President and Head of Products and Solutions for Asia Pacific at Visa. “Consumers who rely on QR payments at home will now enjoy the same seamless and secure experience when traveling abroad.”

Visa’s QR expansion will begin with a pilot program in Singapore, with broader rollouts planned throughout the region over the next year. The company has partnered with payments technology provider Juspay to ensure seamless integration, providing the technical support needed for QR payment companies to connect with Visa’s network.
