CRC Credit Bureau has announced a significant milestone: more than 30 million Nigerians now have credit scores in its database. This achievement underscores the bureau’s dedication to enhancing financial inclusion and fostering economic growth in Nigeria.

In a statement released yesterday, CRC Credit Bureau explained that a credit score is a numerical representation of an individual’s creditworthiness, based on their credit history. It serves as a crucial tool for lenders, helping them assess the risk involved in extending credit to a borrower.

With over 30 million Nigerians now equipped with credit scores, the financial system is becoming more inclusive and transparent. This development allows more people to access credit facilities that were previously beyond their reach.

The company emphasized that reaching this milestone is not just about the numbers—it represents a significant step toward economic empowerment. “Credit scores enable both individuals and businesses to secure loans more easily and at better rates,” CRC Credit Bureau stated. “This increased accessibility to credit can lead to greater financial inclusion, economic growth, and personal advancement.”

The company highlighted that more Nigerians can now actively participate in the formal financial system, gaining access to loans, mortgages, and other financial products. This access to credit allows businesses to expand operations, invest in new ventures, and drive economic development. Similarly, individuals can pursue personal goals such as homeownership, education, and entrepreneurship, with the support of accessible credit.

Despite this achievement, CRC Credit Bureau views the milestone of reaching 30 million credit scores as just the beginning of its mission to further financial inclusion and economic empowerment in Nigeria.

Dr. Tunde Popoola, Group Managing Director of CRC Credit Bureau, expressed the company’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian, regardless of their economic status, has the opportunity to build a credit history.

“We will continue to invest in educational programs to help individuals understand and improve their credit scores,” Dr. Popoola said. “By leveraging the latest technology, we will enhance our services to provide even more accurate and comprehensive credit information.”

Dr. Popoola further noted that CRC Credit Bureau has been at the forefront of this transformation. Through continuous efforts in data collection, analysis, and technology adoption, the bureau has enabled millions of Nigerians to build and maintain credit histories. The company’s services extend beyond credit scoring to include comprehensive credit reports, advisory services, and educational programs aimed at improving financial literacy.

“As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to empowering individuals and businesses, driving economic growth, and making financial inclusion a reality for all Nigerians,” Dr. Popoola concluded.
