UCEE Microfinance Bank, a subsidiary of United Capital Plc, has officially commenced operations, marking its entry into the Nigerian financial sector. The bank celebrated its launch with the introduction of a mobile app aimed at improving financial accessibility across the country.
The bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Esther Adeola-Balogun, announced the launch during a grand opening event on August 19, 2024, in Lagos State.
Positioning itself as a hybrid microfinance institution, UCEE Microfinance Bank is committed to blending traditional banking services with digital innovation to ensure that financial services are accessible to a wide range of customers.
Speaking at the event, Adeola-Balogun emphasized the critical role that technology plays in the bank’s mission. She stated, “Our mobile app is designed as a comprehensive platform for all our products and services. We encourage everyone to download it, as it is key to how we connect with our customers. The app enables users to manage their accounts, access loans, and perform transactions seamlessly from anywhere.”
In addition to the mobile app, UCEE Microfinance Bank is also focused on extending its services to semi-urban and rural areas. To achieve this, the bank plans to introduce a USSD code, making financial solutions more accessible to Nigerians in underserved regions.
“The USSD platform will be essential for those without smartphones, ensuring that even those in remote areas can benefit from our financial services,” Adeola-Balogun noted.
Stephen Nwadiuko, Chairman of UCEE Microfinance Bank, echoed the bank’s commitment to inclusivity, highlighting the importance of reaching every segment of society with their financial offerings.
