5th Edition of Regtech Africa Dialogue to focus on – Unpacking the gender and inclusion gaps

The fifth edition of the Regtech Africa Roundtable (RAR) is set to hold on Thursday, 26th November, 2020 at 14:00 (GMT+1) .

The Regtech Africa Roundtable – Dialogue Series is a thought leadership initiative of Regtech Africa (www.regtechafrica.com) which provides a veritable platform for leading industry players ( C-Level Executives, Tech innovators, Practitioners, Entrepreneurs and Regulators) to share insights from an informed position on contemporary innovative regulatory technology issues to enhance and drive effectiveness, innovation and growth in the industry across Africa and beyond.

It aims to chart the future of innovative regulatory technology through conversations from key leaders and players within these sectors on how businesses now and in the future can leverage technology to drive transformation in Africa.

Themed “Unpacking the gender and inclusion gaps: Accelerating digital financial services for African women,” this virtual event is slated for Thursday, 26th November, 2020 at 14:00 (GMT+1). It already boasts of a robust panel of speakers from the Financial Institution, Fintechs, Insurance and Tech sectors alike. It comes on the heels of the recent 2018 Enhancing Financial Innovation and Access (EFInA) access to finance survey, that revealed 58.9 percent inclusion rate of women compared with 67.4 percent of men with a gender gap of 8.5 percent in Nigeria. This is further exacerbated by the enduring disruptive technology which have impacted business operations in this period of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that has greatly altered the way things are done, with a change in the definition of normal.

The moderator, Cyril Okoroigwe, said the panel discussion is aimed at re-awakening the consciousness of industry thought leaders, fintech ecosystem, and regulators to the realities of our time, and how stakeholders can leverage digital to bridge the diversity and gender inclusive gaps.

He affirmed that the importance of this conference is to bring industry leaders, thought-leaders, key influencers, and major stakeholders together to discuss the economic imperatives of diversity and gender inclusion as key to unlocking huge opportunities on a transformational scale.

“Achieving the SDG goal of gender equality is of high economic priority and not just a question of gender equality. There is a need for a coordinated strategy to enhance sensitization,” Okoroigwe stated.
