The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has announced its commitment to resolving challenges encountered during the online enrolment process for prospective federal retirees from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). This move aims to streamline the process ahead of the 2025 retirement enrolment exercise.
Acting Director-General of PenCom, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, made this known during a workshop held in Abuja for pension desk officers of federal government treasury-funded MDAs. The workshop focused on familiarizing participants with the online enrolment application and addressing the challenges faced in previous exercises.
According to Ms. Oloworaran, the primary goal of the enrolment process is to collect accurate data that helps determine the Accrued Pension Rights of prospective retirees, enabling the Federal Government to make appropriate budgetary provisions. Since 2021, PenCom has automated the enrolment system by introducing an Online Enrolment Application that facilitates seamless registration, verification, and enrolment of retirees.
“In past enrolment exercises, certain gaps and challenges were identified, and today’s session will focus on providing practical solutions and clarity on the modalities for the upcoming 2025 enrolment,” Oloworaran stated. “We are aware of issues such as application downtimes, particularly during last-minute registrations, which have occasionally disrupted the process. I am pleased to announce that we are actively developing a new, more efficient Enrolment Application that will ensure a smoother, user-friendly experience for all stakeholders.”
She further emphasized that the workshop was designed to equip pension desk officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively use the enrolment application and address any challenges that may arise during the enrolment process.
This initiative underscores PenCom’s commitment to improving the pension administration system and ensuring that retirees from federal MDAs have a seamless and efficient enrolment experience.
