UK-based fintech company PayAngel has praised Kenya for its impressive advancements in becoming a technological powerhouse in Africa. At the Forty Under 40 Africa Awards summit, PayAngel highlighted Kenya’s pioneering role as the home of M-Pesa, Africa’s foremost mobile money service, showcasing the nation’s leadership in technological innovation.

Joseph Elvis Lamptey, Head of Growth and Strategy at PayAngel, lauded Kenya’s dynamic role within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He emphasized the crucial role of innovation in driving financial inclusion and applauded Kenya’s technological strides as a model for other African nations aiming to enhance their digital economies and financial systems. He remarked that Kenya’s progress not only positions it as a leader in innovation but also as a land of abundant opportunities.

Lamptey addressed attendees during a summit held earlier in the day, preceding an award ceremony that honored top African innovators, business leaders, government officials, and CEOs.

“With its entrepreneurial spirit and young, tech-savvy population, Kenya is poised to be a major player in the AfCFTA’s success story,” Lamptey stated.

He underscored the need for seamless and affordable cross-border payments to unlock the full potential of innovations and e-commerce in Kenya and across Africa.

“Kenya is a land of opportunity, and PayAngel is here to be a catalyst. We are committed to working alongside Kenyan entrepreneurs, businesses, and individuals to unlock the full potential of the AfCFTA,” Lamptey added.

His views were echoed by other experts at the summit, who highlighted the transformative potential of fintech innovations in democratizing access to finance and spurring entrepreneurial ventures.

“To fully realize this potential, we must address a critical barrier: seamless and affordable cross-border payments. This is where PayAngel steps in. We are a fintech company dedicated to making remittances and payments faster, cheaper, and more secure,” Lamptey emphasized.

By leveraging innovative technology, he noted, Africa can significantly reduce transaction fees for money transfers. He pointed out that PayAngel offers competitive rates and even zero-fee transfers, ensuring that more resources reach those who need them most.

PayAngel’s commitment to innovation and financial inclusion aligns with Kenya’s vision, reinforcing the country’s status as a leader in technological advancement and economic development in Africa.
