The market of 5G is becoming competitive by the days with many companies launching affordable 5G smartphones to push forward the technology. At the same vein, we’re seeing more and more companies working on 5G solutions to improve and push forward the adoption of the new network standard. The truth is that while 1st world countries already have operating 5G networks, the largest part of the world still navigates through 4G networks. One Korean Electronic parts producers are working to make its name among the companies developing solutions for 5G networks. Zaram Technology has successfully commercialized an ultra-low-power semiconductor for 5G telecommunications. It has technological support from the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT).
According to the Korean news outlet, BusinessKorea, Zaram Technology is a manufacturer of small and medium-sized electronic parts. The company’s latest achievement was the development of a low-power semiconductor that can drastically increase 5G networks’ coverage. Moreover, the semiconductor consumes far less power than existing chips. It also meets all the standards determined by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The company recently started mass-producing ZARAM XGSPON STICK. It’s a 10-Gigabit-capable symmetric passive optical network or XGSPON stick type terminal. Any stick embedded with this chip is a key component of 5G networks. It is compatible with standard equipment because it meets all the power consumption requirements. Zaram Technology completed verification with global telecommunication equipment companies and signed a contract to export XGSPON stick to Nokia. We are curious to see how the power-efficient semiconductor will push forward Nokia’s plans of becoming one of the major competitors for Huawei and Ericson.
Nokia is ready to compete in this trending market
We expect to see Zaram Technology innovative equipment integrating Nokia’s 5G equipment in the coming months. The Finnish company is running to become one of the best 5G providers in the world. After a successful trial, the company announced that its 5G AirScale Cloud RAN solution based on vRAN 2.0 will be commercially available this year. However, a wider release will take place in 2021. According to Nokia, the new 5G vRAN function will be compatible with the O-RAN interface specification. In other words, Nokia will become of of the first companies to launch the Open Ran 5G product line.
Nokia is already in talks with Singapore’s carriers StarHub and M1 to build their wireless access 5G network. The Finnish company and the Telecoms are working on the final contract.
