PalmPay, a leading financial technology platform, has launched a new USSD code to improve access to financial services for users across Nigeria.

In a statement released on Monday, PalmPay highlighted that the new service enables users to perform essential financial transactions such as money transfers, bill payments, accessing credit, and savings—without the need for smartphones or internet connectivity.

Chika Nwosu, Managing Director of PalmPay Nigeria, emphasized the company’s dedication to bridging the digital access gap. “Our goal at PalmPay is to ensure financial services are available to everyone, regardless of internet access or smartphone usage. The launch of our USSD service is part of our ongoing mission to provide seamless financial solutions for all users,” Nwosu stated.

Nwosu also highlighted the security measures built into the service, allowing users to remotely freeze their accounts in the event of a lost or stolen phone, enhancing account protection.

The USSD service is expected to complement PalmPay’s extensive network of over 500,000 mobile money agents across Nigeria, enabling users to complete transactions even without internet access.

Nwosu further noted that PalmPay has been instrumental in driving financial inclusion, with one-third of its users opening their first-ever financial accounts through the platform. The introduction of the USSD service is seen as a significant step in expanding financial inclusion across underserved regions in Nigeria.
