No fewer than 1200 youths would be trained on data science at the newly established Coven Labs of the Curator University of Data Science in 2018.
The first batch of training over the week in Akure saw more than 40 Youths become data scientists after graduating from the Coven Labs, Curators University of Data Science and AI Bootcamps.
The bootcamp held in Akure attracted participants from Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and Abuja the Federal Capital Territory.
Bootcamps and nano degrees like these are getting common with the emergence of websites like Udacity and Udemy which are online platforms.
Speaking at the event, the Ondo State Commissioner for Science and Technology Mr. Femi Agagu appreciated efforts of the Coven Labs and the choice of Ondo state, particularly Akure for the training.
He said the move is in line with the Akeredolu led government’s vision to engage its teeming youths using information technology for self sustainability, reliance and wealth creation.
The Director of Programs and International Partnerships, Covens Lab, Victor Akangbe Brown, said Curators University is a non-degree awarding technology company offering cutting edge technology and entrepreneurship education suited for the 21st century industry.
He said to join the Coven Labs Data Science and AI School, prospective applicants need to pre-register on www.curators.ng/datascience
Akangbe Brown said the Curators University Founded in 2016, is an American Company registered in Delaware and Nigeria as Curators Interactive inc.
Quoting the World Economic Forum of 2018, Akangbe Brown said Data Science is one of the highest paying Jobs in the world with annual incomes ranging from $100,000 and $120,000.
He described data scientists are big data wranglers who take an enormous mass of messy data points and use their formidable skills in mathematics, statistics and programming to clean, massage and organize them.
