Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd has entered into a strategic partnership with INFRATEL Africa, a leading telecommunications company, to enhance connectivity in rural areas of Nigeria. This collaboration aims to bridge the digital divide by providing connectivity to unserved and underserved communities, aligning with the government’s goal of fostering digital inclusion.
The partnership will transition 100 locations to the NigComSat-1R Ka band hub platform, significantly boosting rural connectivity. This initiative will leverage the capacity of the NigComSat-1R satellite to expand telecom networks and connectivity solutions, supporting the digital economy objectives of the current administration.
Mrs. Nkechi Jane Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT Ltd, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting that it positions NIGCOMSAT Ltd as a key industry player. Since assuming office eight months ago, she has received substantial support from staff and customers, leading to notable advancements in delivering services such as transponder leases, broadband internet, broadcast services, and other turnkey solutions.
