The MTN Foundation has concluded the sixth phase of its ICT and Business Skills training, awarding N90 million in equipment grants to 300 young Nigerian entrepreneurs. The recipients were announced during a virtual closing ceremony attended by several dignitaries.

The event featured the presence of Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, Dr. William Alo, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Jonas Nzeagwu, Chief Technology Officer of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion, and Arinze Chilo-Offiah, Special Adviser to the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) of the Enugu State Government, among others.

In his message during the ceremony, Governor Obaseki urged the participants to continually enhance the skills they acquired and emphasize the importance of giving back to society. He stressed that the skills they learned were a foundation for future growth and encouraged lifelong learning.

Governor Obaseki also commended MTN for its significant support, notably during the COVID-19 pandemic when the company facilitated remote learning through the EdoBest platform by providing the necessary bandwidth.

Dennis Okoro, the Director of MTN Foundation, reaffirmed the Foundation’s dedication to fostering digital inclusion and congratulated the entrepreneurs who participated in the training.

The ICT and Business Skills training was designed to equip young Nigerian entrepreneurs, aged 18 to 35, with digital skills essential for the growth of their businesses. This year’s program targeted 3,000 entrepreneurs in seven states: Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Kebbi, Niger, and Yobe, in collaboration with Meta and Microsoft.
