The Federal Government of Nigeria, in collaboration with Galaxy Backbone and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has unveiled the Government Service Portal (GSP), a unified digital platform designed to improve access to public services nationwide.

The announcement, made on Wednesday by Chidi Okpala, Head of Media and Corporate Communications at Galaxy Backbone, highlighted the GSP’s objective to enhance government-to-citizen interactions and reduce the need for in-person visits to various government agencies. Through the portal, citizens can easily access essential services, including National Identification Number (NIN) registration, immigration services, and healthcare, among others.

The launch was accompanied by a high-level workshop involving representatives from 12 key government agencies to drive the implementation of the first phase of this project.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, who represented Minister Bosun Tijani, emphasized the portal’s transformative potential, stating, “The Government Service Portal has the potential to change lives, and I believe that through efficient and effective collaboration, we will achieve a lot for our nation.”

The Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanyu, reinforced the importance of the initiative in improving service delivery, remarking, “The Government Service Portal is a testament to Nigeria’s commitment to embracing digitalisation for better governance. Galaxy Backbone is proud to lead this effort, working with KOICA to make public services more efficient, transparent, and accessible to all. This pilot phase is a major step toward a fully digitised public service ecosystem that will benefit every Nigerian.”

KOICA’s Country Director, Sunjil SON, expressed the agency’s continued support for Nigeria’s digital transformation, saying, “KOICA is pleased to partner with Galaxy Backbone and the Nigerian government in delivering this platform. This initiative aligns with our mission to promote sustainable development through technology and innovation.”

The GSP is expected to play a crucial role in Nigeria’s ongoing digital transformation, ensuring more efficient and streamlined public service access for all citizens.
