The MTN Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) Month in Ghana has commenced with a strong message urging SMEs to leverage digital technology to expand their businesses. Under the theme “Optimising Business Solutions for SME Growth,” the month-long program aims to empower SMEs with digital tools and solutions.

Speaking at the launch in Accra, Daniel Asare, the Acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer of MTN Ghana, emphasized the importance of digitalization for SMEs. He highlighted that adopting digital technology enables SMEs to enhance their local and global market presence, reduce costs, boost turnover, and improve productivity and efficiency.

Mr. Asare emphasized that digitalization supports SME integration into domestic and international markets. With innovation and technology, SMEs can collect and analyze data to enhance their operational performance.

Recognizing MTN’s role in supporting SME growth in Ghana, Mr. Asare stated that the company has strategically invested in the Ghanaian SME ecosystem over the past two decades. Many suppliers within MTN’s supply chain started as SMEs and have significantly grown with the support of MTN.

The MTN SME Month program will provide opportunities for MTN Ghana to engage with the SME community, offer them relevant digital tools and solutions, and showcase their businesses. The activities planned for the program include SME activations, training sessions for selected SMEs, focus group discussions, Chenosis training, presentations on MTN business solutions, and market fairs.

Tumi Chamayou, the MTN Group Chief Enterprise Business Officer, highlighted that MTN has partnered with various financial institutions, including banks and insurance companies, to provide financial and insurance support to SMEs as part of the MTN SME Month program.

Selorm Adadevoh, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, emphasized that supporting the growth of SMEs is vital for the Ghanaian economy. He assured that MTN Ghana will continue to introduce innovative digital and technology-driven products and services to foster the growth of SMEs in the country.
