The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has lauded NASD Plc’s Board and Management for their recent innovations aimed at enhancing competitiveness and fostering the overall development of the Nigerian capital market.

During a courtesy visit led by NASD Chairman, Mr. Kayode Falowo, to the new Director General of the SEC, Dr. Emomotimi Agama, in Abuja, the SEC Director General commended NASD for its initiatives focused on deepening the digitalization of its operations. Dr. Agama assured NASD of the SEC’s readiness to support initiatives that promote the growth of the Nigerian capital market. He advised NASD to maintain focus on specific market segments where it intends to operate.

“The Commission is dedicated to promoting innovation within the Nigerian Capital Market while adhering to existing and potential regulations to foster its effective development and transformation,” Dr. Agama stated. “I encourage the NASD team to articulate clear and specific strategies for their participation in the Capital Market.”

He emphasized the SEC’s commitment to supporting innovative initiatives that significantly contribute to the development of the capital market and the broader Nigerian economy. Dr. Agama underscored that these efforts are aligned with the administration’s goal, as articulated by Bola Tinubu, to achieve a GDP size of US$1 trillion within the next decade.

NASD Plc has been proactive in introducing innovative measures to bolster its operations and enhance market competitiveness. The SEC’s assurance of support underscores its pivotal role in fostering a dynamic and resilient capital market ecosystem in Nigeria.
