In a significant move to combat multi-dimensional poverty and provide support to vulnerable citizens, the Federal Government has disbursed N135.4 billion to states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) through the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) program. This disbursement follows the second Independent Assessment of Results achieved under the NG-CARES initiative.
NG-CARES, a $750 million World Bank-assisted Performance for Results Programme, distributes funds based on the results achieved by states and the FCT in their efforts to assist the less privileged.
Dr. Abdulkarim Obaje, the National Coordinator of the NG-CARES Programme, announced this milestone in a statement by Suleiman Odapu, the Information and Communication Officer of NG-CARES, in Abuja on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
Obaje explained that the disbursement was made in recognition of the results achieved by states and the FCT in their endeavors to support impoverished and vulnerable Nigerians through the NG-CARES program.
