Global: First UAE Blood Donation Forum Launches in Abu Dhabi

The inaugural Emirati Blood Donation Forum has commenced its activities in Abu Dhabi, supported by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the regulatory authority for the healthcare sector in the Emirate.

Organised by the Emirates Blood Donation Association, the forum attracted notable attendees from strategic partners, healthcare authorities, and blood banks across the UAE, along with various community groups.

Event Highlights

The forum featured multiple panel discussions emphasizing blood donation as a vital humanitarian act that fosters community solidarity and public health. These discussions also highlighted the importance of maintaining a consistent blood supply to meet patients’ needs.

Doctors and experts presented awareness lectures on the health benefits of blood donation and its life-saving impact. The forum also received backing from the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and the Ministry of Community Development, in addition to strategic partners from healthcare authorities and blood banks throughout the UAE.

Officials commended the Emirates Blood Donation Association for organising this significant event and reiterated their commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance community health by promoting blood donation awareness.

Dr. Ali Al Ansari, Chairman of the Board of the Emirates Blood Donation Association, expressed his honor in hosting the forum and underscored the importance of collaboration among healthcare authorities and strategic partners to bolster blood donation efforts.

“We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of this event. We continuously strive to foster a culture of blood donation in our community as a message of hope and life to those in need,” said Dr. Al Ansari.

Dr. Saleh Saif Al Ali, Executive Director of the Emergency Preparedness & Response Centre at the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, emphasized the DoH’s commitment to the health and well-being of Abu Dhabi’s residents. “Through our collaboration with the Emirates Blood Donation Association, we aim to ensure a continuous and adequate blood supply within the healthcare sector, meeting patients’ needs and enhancing their health and well-being,” he said.

The forum concluded with an honors ceremony for distinguished donors and healthcare entities, recognizing their significant contributions to blood donation campaigns throughout the year. The association expressed its gratitude to all donors and supporters within the healthcare sector, praising their active role in supporting medical and humanitarian efforts in the country.
