{"id":6401,"date":"2025-07-10T14:23:52","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T14:23:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/regtechafrica.com\/healthcare\/?p=6401"},"modified":"2025-07-10T14:23:52","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T14:23:52","slug":"nigeria-nafdac-issues-safety-alert-on-recalled-u-s-multivitamins-over-poisoning-risk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regtechafrica.com\/healthcare\/nigeria-nafdac-issues-safety-alert-on-recalled-u-s-multivitamins-over-poisoning-risk\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria: NAFDAC Issues Safety Alert on Recalled U.S. Multivitamins Over Poisoning Risk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"101\" data-end=\"366\">The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert warning Nigerians against the use or distribution of certain multivitamin and iron supplements recently recalled in the United States due to serious safety concerns.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"368\" data-end=\"629\">In a notice shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, NAFDAC identified the affected products under the <strong data-start=\"484\" data-end=\"505\">CINCINNATI (WKRC)<\/strong> label, which were distributed widely across the U.S., including through major retailers such as <strong data-start=\"602\" data-end=\"613\">Walmart<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"618\" data-end=\"628\">Amazon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"631\" data-end=\"997\">The recall, affecting <strong data-start=\"653\" data-end=\"669\">60,000 units<\/strong>, was initiated after investigations by the <strong data-start=\"713\" data-end=\"756\">U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission<\/strong>revealed that the supplements were improperly packaged, <strong data-start=\"813\" data-end=\"852\">lacking child-resistant safety caps<\/strong>. This flaw significantly increases the risk of <strong data-start=\"900\" data-end=\"936\">accidental poisoning in children<\/strong>, which could result in severe health outcomes or even death.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1031\">Among the recalled products are:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1032\" data-end=\"1134\">\n<li data-start=\"1032\" data-end=\"1058\">\n<p data-start=\"1034\" data-end=\"1058\"><strong data-start=\"1034\" data-end=\"1058\">Daily Prenatal Multi<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1059\" data-end=\"1094\">\n<p data-start=\"1061\" data-end=\"1094\"><strong data-start=\"1061\" data-end=\"1094\">Ultamins Women\u2019s Multivitamin<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1095\" data-end=\"1134\">\n<p data-start=\"1097\" data-end=\"1134\"><strong data-start=\"1097\" data-end=\"1134\">Ultamins Women\u2019s 50+ Multivitamin<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1136\" data-end=\"1414\">NAFDAC warned that if ingested by children, <strong data-start=\"1180\" data-end=\"1219\">even a small number of iron tablets<\/strong> could lead to symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, dangerously low blood pressure, or liver damage.
