Egypt\u2019s push toward a digitally integrated healthcare system has gained substantial momentum, with the Ministry of Health and Population confirming that nearly 20 million electronic treatment approvals<\/strong> were processed through the General Authority for Health Insurance in the 2024\/2025 fiscal year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The update, shared on Saturday, reflects Egypt\u2019s deepening commitment to digital health transformation as part of its broader healthcare reform agenda.<\/p>\n

According to Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar<\/strong>, spokesperson for the ministry, the milestone represents a “significant breakthrough”<\/strong> in digital healthcare delivery. He revealed that over 13 million online medical appointments<\/strong> have been booked across 250 fully digitised clinics<\/strong>, while an additional 120 clinics<\/strong> are currently undergoing digital upgrades and infrastructure enhancements.<\/p>\n

The digitalisation drive also includes the transformation of health information systems. To date, 160 clinic archives have been digitised<\/strong>, with work underway to convert another 247 archives<\/strong>. In parallel, 239 medical warehouses<\/strong> have been automated to streamline supply chain efficiency.<\/p>\n

Several specialist medical committees\u2014covering cardiology, cochlear implants, hematology, and hormone-related treatments\u2014have also been brought onto digital platforms. Furthermore, Egypt\u2019s hospitals are now being integrated into the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)<\/strong>, improving the management and sharing of medical imaging records nationwide.<\/p>\n

Ahmed Mostafa<\/strong>, Head of the Health Insurance Authority, announced the successful integration of the New Administrative Capital Hospital\u2019s digital platform<\/strong> into the National Unified Emergency and Safety Network<\/strong>. He further disclosed that preparations are underway to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) services<\/strong> and enhance the digital infrastructure across affiliated hospitals.<\/p>\n

Mostafa reiterated the Authority\u2019s alignment with Egypt\u2019s National Digital Transformation Strategy<\/strong>, emphasising that healthcare digitalisation remains a core pillar of ongoing reform efforts. \u201cOur digital expansion aims to elevate service delivery, strengthen operational efficiency, and improve health outcomes for all Egyptians,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
