In a bid to enhance Nigeria\u2019s Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs), Orodata Science<\/strong> and the Africa Data Hub<\/strong> have announced the second phase of their innovative data collection and analysis project. The initiative seeks to provide actionable insights for policymakers and citizens to strengthen the country\u2019s primary healthcare system and ensure equitable access to essential health services.<\/p>\n

Expanding the Scope of PHC Data Collection<\/strong><\/h3>\n

According to a statement issued by Orodata Science<\/strong> on Monday and signed by its Programme Officer, Uche Oti<\/strong>, the second phase follows the success of the initial data collection efforts conducted in six states: Anambra, Benue, Cross River, Osun, Sokoto,<\/strong> and Taraba<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe expanded project will now cover over 1,000 additional healthcare centres across 10 new states, bringing the total number of surveyed PHCs to more than 1,500,\u201d Mr. Oti stated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This next phase will evaluate the availability and quality of healthcare services<\/strong>, assess the condition of facilities<\/strong>, identify resource constraints<\/strong>, and uncover gaps in service delivery<\/strong>. The findings will support the development of comprehensive reports and advocacy efforts aimed at improving healthcare outcomes nationwide.<\/p>\n

New States for Data Collection<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The expanded initiative will focus on PHCs in the following states: Ogun, Edo, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kwara, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Abia, Kano, Kaduna,<\/strong> and Gombe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Empowering Nigerians Through Data<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A key feature of this initiative is the launch of CheckMyPHC.org<\/strong>, a digital platform providing Nigerians with real-time data on the status of PHCs in their communities. This platform aims to empower citizens with information, fostering accountability and transparency in the healthcare sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe data collected will be publicly accessible, enabling both policymakers and citizens to engage with the healthcare system more effectively,\u201d Mr. Oti noted.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
