To achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC), Nigeria must fully embrace digital health innovations, according to Flory Emakpose, Founder of Baba Telehealth.<\/a> Emakpose emphasized that current global economic conditions make the adoption of digital health solutions essential for Nigeria\u2019s healthcare system.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the unveiling of Regina Daniels as the new ambassador for Baba Telehealth in Abuja on Tuesday, Emakpose praised the Nigerian government\u2019s efforts through initiatives like the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative and the Health Renewal Compact. She acknowledged that while these programs are on the right path, achieving UHC will require substantial backing from both the private sector and development partners.<\/p>\n

Emakpose, who co-founded Baba Telehealth\u2014a telemedicine platform designed to provide real-time health consultations via smartphones and computers\u2014stressed the importance of technology in making healthcare more accessible and affordable.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn today\u2019s digital era, technology is integral to almost every aspect of our lives, from banking to social media. It\u2019s time we harness this technology to improve our healthcare system,\u201d Emakpose said. \u201cBaba Telehealth offers a solution that enables individuals to connect with healthcare providers through text, audio, and video consultations right from their smartphones.\u201d<\/p>\n

She highlighted that the platform addresses significant gaps in healthcare access, especially in underserved areas. \u201cBaba Telehealth provides a vital service by allowing patients to receive medical advice and treatment from the safety of their homes, which is especially crucial during times of crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic,\u201d Emakpose explained.<\/p>\n

The platform\u2019s benefits include eliminating long wait times at clinics, reducing travel distances, and offering a convenient way for patients to connect with doctors. \u201cWith just a few taps on a smartphone, users can access healthcare services efficiently and conveniently,\u201d Emakpose said. \u201cOur goal is to bridge the gap in healthcare access and improve outcomes by leveraging smartphone technology to reach more patients.\u201d<\/p>\n
