{"id":3781,"date":"2023-03-03T11:16:57","date_gmt":"2023-03-03T11:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/regtechafrica.com\/healthcare\/?p=3781"},"modified":"2023-03-03T11:16:57","modified_gmt":"2023-03-03T11:16:57","slug":"global-doctorly-raises-10m-to-improve-medical-practice-software","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regtechafrica.com\/healthcare\/global-doctorly-raises-10m-to-improve-medical-practice-software\/","title":{"rendered":"Global: Doctorly Raises $10M to Improve Medical Practice Software"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pymnts-content1473014\" class=\"single lh-article mt-1 lnk-article\">\n<p>German startup\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.doctorly.de\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">doctorly<\/a>\u00a0has raised $10 million to help medical practices update their outdated software.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cdoctorly\u2019s home market of Germany still heavily relies on software built in the 1980s and lags behind global competitors,\u201d investor WELL said in a Wednesday (March 1, 2023) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/well-makes-investment-in-doctorly-and-launches-strategic-alliance-to-tech-enable-german-doctors-301759421.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">news release<\/a>. \u201cAntiquated software and a lack of innovation has led to material inefficiencies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The release cites figures from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbv.de\/html\/about_us.php\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">KBV<\/a>, Germany\u2019s regulator for state practicing doctors, which show that the country\u2019s medical practices spend an average of 61 working days each year on administrative tasks.<\/p>\n<p>The doctorly operating system has helped halve the time practices need to spend on administrative tasks, the release said. It is also the only venture capital backed start up in Germany that has regulatory approval to sell and distribute practice management software.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince inception, we have worked very closely with doctors and healthcare professionals to build an operating system that works for them,\u201d said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/de.linkedin.com\/in\/samirelalami\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Samir El-Alami<\/a>, doctorly\u2019s founder and CEO. \u201cOur relationships have enabled us to build a practice management system that is modern, easy to use, secure and connects with other modern technologies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While doctorly works to help practices update their systems, patients are increasingly updating the way they pay for medical care.<\/p>\n<p>The findings mark a significant shift from traditional methods of paying for medical care such as in-person and mail-in payments. The study also found that 75% of consumers made at least one payment for a healthcare product or service in the past 12 months, with a growing number of patients opting for digital channels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn-person channels may remain the most common way to pay for healthcare expenses, but our research shows that digital patient and health-plan portals are equally preferred.
