{"id":3060,"date":"2022-10-22T09:27:43","date_gmt":"2022-10-22T09:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/regtechafrica.com\/healthcare\/?p=3060"},"modified":"2022-10-22T09:27:43","modified_gmt":"2022-10-22T09:27:43","slug":"global-health-tracking-wearables-are-a-fit-for-43-of-us-consumers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regtechafrica.com\/healthcare\/global-health-tracking-wearables-are-a-fit-for-43-of-us-consumers\/","title":{"rendered":"Global: Health-Tracking Wearables Are a Fit for 43% of US Consumers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The stylish side of preventive healthcare comes in the form of digital wearables like Apple Watch, Fitbit and smart rings, the use of which has seen astronomical growth since 2021.<\/p>\n<p>We examined this in the study \u201cConnected Wellness: What\u2019s Next in the Connected Economy,\u201d a report with research sponsored by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carecredit.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">CareCredit<\/a>, surveying over 3,200 U.S. consumers to discover steps they\u2019re taking to head off health problems, with a focus on use of digital tools.<\/p>\n<p>We found that in just the nine months prior to August 2022, 10 million more U.S. consumers took to using websites and wearables to monitor vitals and chronic health conditions, concluding that 148 million U.S. consumers \u2014\u00a0roughly 44% of the total U.S. population \u2014\u00a0are now utilizing some form of preventive digital healthcare tool.<\/p>\n<p>With COVID-19 almost certainly a factor in the rather sudden spike in healthcare wearables and web tools, it\u2019s the psychological impacts that are getting those attention, with the report noting that 31% of consumers reported using sites or apps to support their mental health in August, \u201cup 32% from November 2021. This is by far the fastest growth we\u2019ve seen in any type of preventative health-related activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1415142 c008\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/preventive-healthcare.png?w=1170&#038;ssl=1\" srcset=\"https:\/\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/preventive-healthcare.png 1163w, https:\/\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/preventive-healthcare-171x180.png 171w, https:\/\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/preventive-healthcare-302x319.png 302w, https:\/\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/preventive-healthcare-768x810.png 768w, https:\/\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/preventive-healthcare-150x158.png 150w, \" alt=\"chart, healthcare\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Per the study, \u201cuse of wearables like Fitbit, Apple Watch and smart rings is also rising, albeit not at the same blistering pace as mental healthcare apps. Forty-three percent of consumers used some type of wearable health technology to automatically track, store and analyze their health information in August, for a total increase of 17% from November 2021. Wearable technologies continue to be the most common way consumers use digital tools to manage their health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1415147 c008\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/consumer-preventive-healthcare.png?w=1170&#038;ssl=1\" srcset=\"https:\/\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/consumer-preventive-healthcare.png 1176w, https:\/\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/consumer-preventive-healthcare-185x180.png 185w, https:\/\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/consumer-preventive-healthcare-328x319.png 328w, https:\/\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/consumer-preventive-healthcare-768x747.png 768w, https:\/\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/consumer-preventive-healthcare-150x146.png 150w, \" alt=\"chart, consumer health activities\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the most connected consumers use mental healthcare apps the least, though 75% report using at least one in August.
