Prudential Uganda has made a significant donation of essential medical supplies worth approximately shs110 million ($30,000) to Mulago National Referral Hospital. These supplies, including safety boxes for syringes, heavy-duty aprons, sterile and examination gloves, aim to enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver exceptional medical care.
Tetteh Ayitevie, the CEO of Prudential Uganda, explained that this donation is part of the Prudential Post COVID Recovery Funds initiative, which aims to support crucial institutions like Mulago National Referral Hospital in their efforts to provide high-quality medical services. The CEO emphasized the importance of collective action in the journey to recovery, considering the impact of COVID on individuals and institutions.
“As we navigate the post-COVID landscape, Prudential Uganda remains committed to our community’s health and well-being. Our partnership with Mulago National Referral Hospital is a testament to our dedication to fostering a stronger and more resilient healthcare system,” Ayitevie stated.
Peter Mugarura, the Head of Marketing, Brand, and Communications at Prudential Uganda, highlighted that these medical supplies are intended to enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver top-notch healthcare services. The donation also addresses service gaps that had been identified by hospital authorities.
Dr. Rosemary Byanyima, the Executive Director of Mulago National Referral Hospital, expressed her gratitude for Prudential’s contribution, emphasizing its significance in ongoing efforts to improve patient care and medical services. Given Mulago’s role as a major healthcare provider, particularly in the fight against COVID, this support holds substantial value.
The funds for COVID relief were provided by Prudential Uganda with support from the Prudence Foundation, the community investment arm of Prudential plc in Asia and Africa. This collaboration underscores Prudential’s commitment to community well-being and healthcare enhancement.
