Nigeria Set to Host West Africa Healthcare Expo and Conference

The forthcoming 2023 edition of Medic West Africa Exhibition and Conference, a significant gathering of healthcare trade professionals in West Africa, is scheduled to take place in Lagos from September 26 to 28, 2023.

Informa Markets, the organizer, will oversee the 2023 West Africa Healthcare and Laboratory Expo, a platform featuring participation from more than 150 companies and 4500 healthcare experts spanning 32 countries. Marking the 10th anniversary of Medic West Africa, this event will also introduce Medlab West Africa, a collaboration with MLSCN, supported by trade associations, government agencies, and industry partners.

According to Coleman, “Despite significant governmental investments in healthcare infrastructure enhancement and the expansion of medical facility access, Medic West Africa plays a pivotal role in propelling the healthcare industry forward by establishing an enabling environment for businesses and stakeholders to connect, engage in discussions, and explore the latest healthcare technologies and solutions.”

He further expressed enthusiasm about the launch of Medlab West Africa alongside the 2023 Medic West Africa event. Medlab, renowned as a successful global event brand for 20 years, will become the ultimate event where innovation, collaboration, and growth converge to shape the future of the laboratory industry in West Africa.

The event will foster connections within the medical laboratory community, transforming it into the region’s largest multi-disciplinary laboratory congress and exhibition, as stated by Coleman.

The 2022 edition attracted 3,260 healthcare professionals from 84 countries and generated $30 million in business transactions, striving to bridge the gap in shaping the healthcare landscape of the region.

Coleman also announced that the upcoming Medic West Africa conferences would feature sessions by prominent organizations such as the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria, the Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners, and the Society for Quality in Health Care in Nigeria.

Over the course of three days, the event will exhibit medical equipment, disposables, IT systems, and healthcare infrastructure. The conference program will include clinical and business seminars, leadership conferences, imaging workshops, and a women-in-healthcare luncheon.

Dr. Tosan Erhabor, the Registrar/Chief Executive of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), expressed the council’s commitment to strengthening health laboratory systems and professional practice for quality services.

Furthermore, the company is partnering with Medic West Africa to introduce Medlabas, a platform for dialogue and promoting accurate medical laboratory test results. This initiative aims to enrich the scientific program of the conference.
