The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has addressed misinformation regarding the registration status of certain products currently in circulation. In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja and signed by the Director-General, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, NAFDAC aims to set the record straight on the validity of product registrations.
The products in question include Cway Drinking Water, Eva Premium Table Water, Peak Full Cream Instant Milk Powder, and Golden Penny Pasta Spaghetti. Prof Mojisola Adeyeye emphasized the need to dispel rumors suggesting that NAFDAC was overlooking manufacturers flaunting expired licenses.
Upon investigation by the Director of Food Registration and Regulatory Affairs at NAFDAC, it was confirmed that all four products mentioned in the misleading information have valid registration status.
Adeyeye further clarified the status of Gino Magic Seasoning Tomato Mix, stating that it is no longer in circulation due to the Federal Government’s prohibition of importation on certain products. Similarly, Cway Ultra Drinking Water is no longer in circulation.
She urged the public to utilize the NAFDAC Registered Products Automated Database to verify the regulatory status of products. Additionally, stakeholders and consumers can contact NAFDAC for further information, acknowledging that the search system may not provide the final verdict due to potential backlog of approvals yet to be uploaded.
NAFDAC remains committed to ensuring accurate information and maintaining transparency in the regulation of products for the safety of consumers.
