Nigeria: FCMB and TCF Restore Vision for 150,000 Visually Impaired Nigerians

First City Monument Bank (FCMB), in collaboration with the Tulsi Chanrai Foundation (TCF), has successfully restored the vision of approximately 150,000 visually impaired individuals in Kebbi State through its long-standing Priceless Gift of Sight initiative.

Launched in 2009, the program has been providing free eye tests, optical services, and surgical interventions to those suffering from visual impairments, particularly cataracts. It has positively impacted residents across all 21 local government areas in Kebbi, enabling many to regain their sight and live more fulfilling, productive lives.

During a recent outreach event in Birnin-Kebbi to mark the 15th anniversary of the initiative, the First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Nafisa Idris, expressed her gratitude to FCMB and TCF for their dedication to reducing avoidable blindness in the state.

“We sincerely thank FCMB and the Tulsi Chanrai Foundation for their consistent efforts in restoring sight to thousands of individuals affected by cataracts and other vision-related issues. By doing so, you have restored hope and enabled many to lead productive lives once again,” said Idris.

Diran Olojo, Group Head of Corporate Affairs at FCMB, highlighted the bank’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and sustainable society through impactful programs like the Priceless Gift of Sight. He noted that the initiative not only improves health but also empowers individuals to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

“This initiative is about empowerment and inclusivity. Since its inception in 2009, over 400,000 Nigerians in Kebbi, Cross River, Ogun, Imo, Abuja, Katsina, and Adamawa states have benefited from free eye care services provided through this program,” Olojo said.

Through this partnership, FCMB and TCF continue to transform lives across Nigeria, offering vital support to individuals suffering from preventable blindness.
