Nigeria: AXA Mansard Health Brings Medical Outreach to Lagos Community

Hundreds of residents in the Abule Oja community of Lagos State have benefited from a medical outreach initiative organized by AXA Mansard Health Limited, demonstrating the company’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and community wellness.

Tope Adeniyi, CEO of AXA Mansard Health Limited, emphasized that this outreach is part of the company’s broader goal of promoting universal health coverage. While collaborating with national institutions to advance this agenda in Nigeria, AXA Mansard is also investing in grassroots development initiatives, which combine preventive health education, medical screenings, and the distribution of mosquito nets to combat malaria.

“For us at AXA Mansard Health, universal health coverage is a critical priority. We believe healthcare should be accessible, affordable, and available to everyone, regardless of their socio-economic, geographic, or educational status,” said Adeniyi. “This medical outreach is just one of the many programs we’ve planned this year to enhance community health.”

Earlier in the year, AXA Mansard donated medical equipment to hospitals in underserved areas across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. Adeniyi reaffirmed the company’s dedication to ensuring wellness is widespread across the country. “We are on a mission to make wellness ubiquitous in Nigeria, one community at a time,” he added.

Adeniyi also highlighted the integral role of AXA Mansard’s employees in driving the initiative: “What makes this outreach unique is the active involvement of our employee volunteers. They weren’t just the architects of this program; they also committed their time and effort to its success by directly engaging with the community. This shows that this isn’t just a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program—it’s a reflection of our company’s deep commitment, shared by all our employees.”

Adebola Surakat, Chief Marketing Officer at AXA Mansard, explained that the outreach is part of the company’s AXA Hearts in Action program, a global employee volunteering initiative. “AXA Hearts in Action is at the heart of our mission to promote human progress. It encourages our employees to not only create solutions for societal advancement but also to give back their time to causes that build healthier communities,” she said.

Reacting to the initiative, Alhaji Otunbade Nurudeen, Chairman of the Abule Oja Community Development Association, expressed his gratitude to AXA Mansard for choosing the community. “We are thrilled to have AXA Mansard conduct this outreach here. The health talks, screenings, and mosquito nets will significantly contribute to the well-being of our community, especially during these challenging economic times,” he said.
