Global: Oracle Health to Join U.S. Health Information Sharing Program as Qualified Health Network

Oracle Health has announced its plans to pursue Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN) status under the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA), positioning itself to enable healthcare providers, payers, pharmaceutical companies, and government agencies to securely share health information nationwide. This move, disclosed in an October 28 press release, underscores Oracle Health’s commitment to enhancing patient data accessibility and security.

“As a longtime advocate for patient data control, Oracle Health is focused on making healthcare data more available, secure, and valuable for decision-making,” said Seema Verma, Oracle Health and Life Sciences’ executive vice president and general manager.

Oracle Health’s infrastructure, built on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), aims to accelerate data sharing, support complex data types like X-rays and MRIs, power AI to support clinical decisions, optimize treatment pathways, and streamline payment processes. As the company advances through the QHIN qualification, it will maintain its role in the CommonWell Health Alliance, a 10-year-old interoperability network Oracle co-founded to promote health information exchange.

“As we progress in the TEFCA QHIN application, Oracle continues to lead in delivering solutions that reduce costs, complexity, and improve information access for patients and healthcare providers,” Verma added.

Oracle has also recently launched the Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange, a cloud-based solution designed to streamline medical claims processing by centralizing secure data exchanges and reducing administrative expenses. Additionally, its Paymentus Patient Billing and Payments Stack, validated in September 2023, connects with Oracle Health’s electronic health record (EHR) system, offering providers enhanced billing, payment, and disbursement tools.

Oracle Health’s commitment to these innovations highlights its role in this transformation, particularly through its advancements in secure health data exchange and AI-driven healthcare solutions.
