PenOp appoints Donald Onuoha as president - Regtech Africa

Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp) has elected Donald Onuoha as its new president and chairman of its Executive Committee, signalling a leadership transition within Nigeria’s pension industry.

Onuoha, who currently serves as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Pension Managers Limited, was selected by members of the association to provide strategic direction and guide industry priorities.

The newly constituted Executive Committee also includes Blessing Ogwu, MD/CEO of UBA Pensions Custodian Limited, as Vice President and Vice Chairman; Benjamin Okorie-Agidi, MD/CEO of TotalEnergies EP Nigeria CPFA Limited, as Treasurer; and Ehis Uzenabor, MD/CEO of Shell Nigeria CPFA Limited, who will serve as Member and Chairman of the Technical Committee.

Also appointed are Aliyu Atiku, MD/CEO of NUPEMCO, as Member and Chairman of the Legal, Regulatory and Ethics Committee, and Adeola Oyegbade, MD/CEO of GT Pension Managers Limited, as Member and Chairman of the Branding and Communications Committee.

In his acceptance remarks, Onuoha expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, reaffirming his commitment to upholding industry standards and prioritising the interests of Retirement Savings Account holders.

He outlined key priorities for his tenure, including expanding pension penetration, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and enhancing the industry’s contribution to Nigeria’s broader economic development.

Onuoha also pledged to work closely with the Executive Committee and other stakeholders to sustain ongoing reforms and drive initiatives that improve transparency, trust, and operational efficiency across the pension ecosystem.
