Coinage Fund Receives SEC Licence to Operate as Portfolio Manager

Coinage Fund Management Limited has secured regulatory approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria to operate as a licensed fund and portfolio manager, marking a significant step in its expansion within Nigeria’s investment management landscape.

The licence enables the firm to deliver structured investment and portfolio management services to a diverse client base, including individuals, corporates, and institutional investors.

Chairman of the Board, Victor Gbenga Afolabi, positioned the firm as a solution to inefficiencies in capital allocation, noting that many investors lack access to the expertise required to optimise their financial assets.

“Significant capital remains underutilised or poorly managed due to limited access to the right advisory and management structures. Our goal is to bridge that gap and enable smarter capital deployment,” he said.

Chief Executive Officer Biodun Oke described the regulatory approval as both an endorsement of the firm’s strategic direction and a foundation for long-term growth.

According to him, the company is focused on building a next-generation wealth management platform that supports financial security, retirement planning, and sustainable wealth creation.

“At Coinage, our approach is anchored on ethical investment practices, data-driven decision-making, and a long-term view of value creation,” Oke said.

The approval positions the firm to play a more active role in Nigeria’s evolving asset management sector, where demand for professional portfolio management and structured investment solutions continues to grow.
