UBA Deepens Financial Inclusion with Super Savers Season 5 and Digital Innovations

United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to driving financial inclusion across Africa through a combination of technology, grassroots engagement, and innovative products. Over the years, the pan-African institution has consistently rolled out initiatives to bring the unbanked and underbanked into the formal financial system.

In its latest effort, UBA unveiled the Super Savers Season 5 Promo in August 2025. Running from September 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, the nine-month campaign—tagged “Season of Progress”—aims to deepen Nigeria’s savings culture while rewarding customers with cash prizes and other benefits worth over ₦150 million.

The promo is open to new and existing customers through a range of savings products, including Bumper Accounts, Individual Savings Accounts, Kiddies, Teens, and NextGen Accounts. With a minimum deposit of ₦5,000 for Bumper Accounts or ₦10,000 monthly deposits for Individual Savings, participants qualify for monthly draws, while deposits in multiples increase winning chances. Dormant account holders are also included, with a chance to win ₦35,000 monthly reactivation rewards by funding their inactive accounts with ₦10,000.

The reward structure features:

  • Quarterly Star Prizes: ₦1 million for 27 winners

  • Quarterly Prizes: ₦500,000 to ₦10,000 cash rewards

  • Monthly Benefits: Airtime, data, and branded items

  • Special Rewards: Scholarships for Kiddies and Teens account holders; ₦15,000 monthly pocket money for NextGen customers for one year

To ensure transparency, all draws will be conducted live under regulatory oversight, alongside nationwide activations across markets, campuses, and rural communities.

Speaking at the launch, Chukwuma Nweke, Group Deputy Managing Director of UBA, emphasised the developmental impact of savings:
“Savings empower families and individuals to take control of their future—whether through quality education, home ownership, entrepreneurship, or financial security. This campaign reflects our role as a partner in nation-building by ensuring every Nigerian has access to inclusive financial solutions.”

Shamsideen Fashola, Group Head of Retail and Digital Banking, highlighted UBA’s five-year journey of incentivising savings, noting that last year’s anniversary promo distributed nearly ₦150 million. He added:
“Season 5 is even more ambitious, reflecting our loyalty to customers and our drive to attract new savers to the UBA family.”

Alero Ladipo, Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, reiterated that the campaign is about more than rewards:
“Our goal is financial inclusion—empowering Nigerians with the tools to achieve financial independence through safe, innovative, and secure banking solutions.”

Beyond the promo, UBA has advanced financial inclusion with innovations like the Mastercard prepaid card, which enables individuals without bank accounts—such as young adults, gig workers, and low-income earners—to transact locally and internationally with ease.

Its broader digital transformation strategy includes:

  • UBA Mobile Banking App: A multilingual, user-friendly app for account opening, transfers, and bill payments.

  • Leo AI Chatbot: Accessible on WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram, offering 24/7 banking support for tech-savvy users.

  • UBA Connect: A cross-border platform enabling seamless transactions across UBA’s pan-African network.

  • Agent Banking: Thousands of local agents providing financial services in underserved rural communities, reducing access barriers while creating jobs.

With over 28.9 million Nigerian adults still unbanked, UBA’s multi-pronged approach—combining digital tools, agent networks, and grassroots initiatives—underscores its mission to bridge economic gaps, break cycles of poverty, and foster inclusive growth across Africa.
